The front terminal battery is specifically designed for telecom applications and data centers. Its front terminal access layout allows easy installation into modular cabinets and rack systems.


GEM’s GF Series batteries utilize advanced AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) technology. The new material AGM separator enhances internal gas recombination and centralized venting, allowing the battery to operate at low internal gas pressure. This ensures safe operation and excellent reliability, even with the battery’s compact width. High-quality Pb-Ca-Sn thicker plates are assembled to support long durability, providing up to 12 years of float service life. Flame-retardant ABS cases are also available.


Applications of Front Terminal Batteries

A front terminal battery, also known as a “narrow” battery, is typically a 12V battery designed to fit into a 19-inch or 23-inch cabinet. The terminals are located on the upper side of the short front face, making the battery nearly 19 or 23 inches wide.


The basic principle and structure are similar to a 2V battery. The difference is that the front terminal battery connects six 2V cells of the same capacity in series inside a single housing with six cell compartments. This gives the front terminal battery a long, narrow shape with a cell aspect ratio of 3.4:5, increasing the surface area. As a result, it offers excellent heat dissipation, greatly reducing the risk of thermal runaway. The front‑mounted terminals also make external connections easier and more convenient.


Front terminal batteries effectively reduce the difficulty of series connection in long, narrow structures. They improve the welding area and quality between cells, enhance the reliability of sealing between the battery jar and cover, ensure stable product performance, and support cleaner production.


When installed vertically, no maintenance space is required between layers. This not only saves machine room floor space but also simplifies installation and maintenance. Compared to 2V batteries, front terminal batteries offer advantages in energy saving, emission reduction, manufacturing cost, product standardization, and installation control.


For these reasons, front terminal batteries are widely used in communication power supplies around the world.
